An organization that affords students in grades 6 through 12 the opportunity to work together to further the mission of the Library Company of Burlington through a variety of volunteer events and special activities. Teen volunteers are positive examples for younger patrons and encourage library usage and a love of reading, The motto of the Burlington Bookends is “Keep up the Books!”
The Bookends assist with monthly story times, family and teen movie nights, children’s and young adults’ summer reading programs, special Library events, and the annual Friends of the Library used book sale during the summer and at Wood Street Fair. Volunteers also assist with special programs presented by the Office of Early Childhood Education in Burlington City.
Members represent both the public, parochial, and private schools located in Burlington City, Burlington Township, and neighboring towns as well as Holy Cross High School and BCIT. Students must be in good academic standing at their respective school, and will receive a record of their volunteer hours for community service credit at their school.
